Jefferson is committed to being the hands and feet of Christ to allow His love to reach to the end of the earth.  We care for those who are  worlds away fighting in wars, to those who are right next door.

During our 50 year history, our church has given over $10 million to the UMC Organization on Relief.  UMCOR is one of the first organizations on site when disaster hits, whether in the US or abroad; a portion of our collections support UMCOR.

Missions
How We Help

Pumpkin Patch – JUMC’s largest mission project, our pumpkin patch allows us to give all proceeds to local, area missions. Last year we gave away over $8,000.

HOPE Ministries and JUMC Food Pantry – Our generous congregation gives food for our church pantry, as well as, UMC’s HOPE Ministries for those in Baton Rouge.

Angel Tree – In November, we play “Santa” by providing gifts for children in Baton Rouge with parents in prison.

Teddy Bear Sunday – During Christmas we collect teddy bears and stuffed animals for BraveHeart. This organization helps children who are taken from their homes by social services. They immediately provide a backback with items, including a stuffed animal.

Youth - Our Youth travel every summer to various places to help those in need.

Habitat for Humanity - Annually we participate in the Baton Rouge Methodist building of a house for a family in need.

OLOL Blood Drive – The Blood Mobile comes to JUMC on a Sunday and Jefferson’s bank is credited for members and their families.

Mission Trip – Organized by Volunteers in Motion (VIM) church members go to Reynosa, Mexico for medical mission service.

Local Schools – Throughout the year, we collect needed items for our local Jefferson Terrace Elementary school.

Soldier Packages - We collect items and create packages for our soldiers oversees.  Even our children are involved by coloring pictures.

Special Requests – Our congregation answers the needs of the community.  We have lunches and dinners to raise funds, take up collections, and help as we can.
